The client
Our client is one of the world’s largest coffee companies, a European-headquartered group with a portfolio of major and local coffee brands, revenue in excess of €9.9 billion a year, more than 21,000 employees, and a presence in over 100 markets worldwide.
The client had a number of key leadership roles opening up across operations and engineering without the internal succession pipeline to fill the gaps. They needed to go external, starting with one Plant Director search at a flagship site that also houses their headquarters function. That search went well enough that the client came back for a number of further searches across operations and engineering to fill the other gaps.
The Challenge
Every one of these searches was backfilling someone who’d been genuinely successful in the role, which raised the bar rather than lowering it, the team needed candidates capable of stepping in and immediately exceeding what a well-regarded predecessor had already delivered, in high-visibility factory and engineering leadership positions.
